ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

 

Friar’s Head is a private, 18- hole Coore & Crenshaw design, built in 2001. Located on the north shore, on the eastern of Long Island.

It is ranked #14, Golf Digest Greatest Top 100 and # 2 on the Golfweek’s Modern list. Addition to the 18 holes, the club has a 10-hole short course, 22-acre practice facility and an 88-acre bluegrass sod farm.

 

Greens are A-4 bentgrass, fairways and tee areas are a blend of Colonial bentgrass, Fine fescue and Poa annua.

 

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Superintendent in overseeing daily maintenance of the golf course, cottages, practice facilities and landscaped areas.

• Assist in developing and implementing agronomic practices, including mowing schedules, fertilizer applications, irrigation, and pest/disease management.

• Work with the mechanics to ensure proper use and care of all turf equipment.

 

Requirements

• 2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance; supervisory experience preferred.

• Strong understanding of modern turfgrass maintenance and golf course conditioning strategies.

• Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.

 

Compensation;

Competitive salary based on experience. housing, meals, medical, 401K, vacation, dues to National and Local chapters, uniforms and golfing privileges.
